The last week!

Tomorrow is our last class. Today I'm finishing up my rough draft and making a few changes to my paper. I figured I would write one last blog and reflect on the semester. Kate is an amazing teacher who prepares her students very well with the tools they need to suceed in further classes. I enjoyed having Kate as a techer this semester and plan to take ENC1102 this summer online since Kate is an instructor.

The last blog.

So this is the last blog and its for extra credit hopefully gonna bring my blog grades up. So this week our annotated bibliography was due which i got a little confused on since all my sources we so much a like i felt like i kept writing the same things about each article in each section, so hopefully i did it right and i get a good grade. Its crazy to think we have just one more day of this class and its over. Our research paper is due Tuesday for our rough draft, it may be a little complicated to intertwine our research and our actual personal experience with what we are arguing. The food inc movie is what our final will be on so i think that could be a little easy especially since it doesn't have to be that long in length and i think i took pretty good notes. The only thing that confused me a little was talking about the hidden veil thing and Kate really made it seem that that was what the final essay would be about so i'm a little worried although i took notes on everything she was saying about it.

So this week we watched the movie Food Inc. this movie made me never want to eat meat again. I never really thought into how and where food came from. Just to think a burger could come from hundreds of different cows mixed into one burger is disgusting. Its also horrible all the things they are using to make cows and chickens bigger and fatter faster just so they can make more food. All fruits and vegetable i get i now wanna get from farmers markets. I think the final will be pretty easy to write about since it has to do with this movie and the movie i think affected a lot of people to realize how gross the food is they are eating. The semester is coming to an end fast and these last few weeks i have a TON of assignments to do and get done plus studying for finals. I'm really glad she is letting us do 2 blogs for extra credit because i forgot to do one before so now one of these gets to replace my late one. Don't forget to bring in everything she asked on tuesday!

Food, Inc.

What an eye opener? I am horrified at the things we eat. It is digusting. I had heard of the book "The Jungle" and knew that our food industry was bad, but I had no idea it was like this. This is horrible to think this is what we eat. There are many horrible aspects to the food industry, one being how the animals are "farmed" it is inhumane. I am a meat eater so I'm not trying to go all vegetarian with this topic but there is NO reason for the animals to be kept and raised in the conditions they are. Our farmers are not allowed to bring these problems to the governments attention for fear they will lose their contracts with the major food industries (Tyson). Our farmers are not making any money, only causing themselves more debt. Something needs to be done. Americans have to put a stop the the food industry and how they are operating at this point in time.

Hey Yall!

So with getting ready for easter and such i totally forgot about doing my blog for last week. so i guess i will be doing one now... How was yalls easter?? mine was good had all the family over so our house was packed and beings alot of people stayed here i put my school work on the back burner ;( and i should not have did that.. Anyways.. we are almost done with this class. and i am really happy about that. I really would like to know what our final will be on or about? And this next essay sounds easy but i think it is going to be hard. and i should start soon.. Well have a great week...

The article we read was really helpful when explaining what she expected out of our essay. Its crazy what the article was about though with how this couple wanted to have the perfect kid with the great looks and also be extremely smart. Whats the point in that? Half the fun is to see what your kid will look like and turn out to be in their future and the parent should accept whatever the kid was like and did with their life. I couldn't think of a topic i could use for this essay and i thought that that was where i would be stuck with this paper then i found a great topic i have a ton of experience dealing with and thats with insurance companies deciding what prescriptions they want to cover and what not. The scavenger hunt we did today in class was kind of annoying since not everyone could access the one page because we didn't know the login or password so it wasn't to fair with whoever figured out how to get in because they get the extra points when no one else figured out how to get on the page until later on but oh well i guess. What is everyone elses topics for their papers?

The perfect child...

The essay "Grade A" help extremly with giving me an idea of what our paper should be like. The thing that I keep thinking about is David and his wife. To me it is unreal that these people are looking for the "perfect" child. They have a check list that has to be met, to me this is like you make the child a possesion, instead of a person. I can't believe these people actually thought this was ok.
